    Job Description: Experienced buyer required for an organisation based in South Devon at this exciting stage of growth. My client is due to launch a new product to market and they are looking for a buyer to source, negotiate, purchase and build relationships with suppliers in the UK and abroad. This is an excellent opportunity for someone to implement the purchasing function from scratch, and be completely responsible for inventory control and ensuring all materials meet production requirements and customer demand. You will have a proven background within a senior purchasing role, ideally within a mechanical or electrical environment, possess excellent interpersonal skills, first class negotiation skills and have the ability to build strong working relationships. The ability to work on your own initiative and manage your own workload is essential. This position will potentially become part of the SMT and will be responsible for all budgets and strategic costings.

You will work closely with the NPI Team and supply chain planning ensuring processes are in place to support their departments. The successful applicant will have a good understanding of MRP systems including SAP, excellent analytical skills and a proven background of working within a similar role. Attention to detail and a thorough understanding of data processes is also required.

Through the management of KPI’s you will be responsible for the end product, it’s quality and meeting the agreed timescales and customer demands. You will be responsible for actively implementing lean manufacturing techniques, monitoring KPI’s, motivating your team and responding to customer demand quickly and efficiently. The successful candidate will have a proven background within a similar role, will have line management experience and will have ideally worked within an FMCG environment. First class communication skills and the ability to work under pressure is also required. This position is working on a shift basis, Monday – Friday but will involve some night shifts.

In addition you will ideally be Degree qualified, however, this is not essential.
