We are currently seeking an experienced Account Manager to join a dynamic and rapidly growing business in South Devon. Last year was completely unprecedented and their most successful year of trading - what a time to be joining them! This is a newly created role for the business and is key to ensuring the delivery of their product to customers.
Reporting into the Logistics Director the successful candidate will manage relationships with external suppliers, optimising cost and efficiency and ensuring vehicles arrive on time to meet forecasted deliveries.

- Manage relationships with key account managers and the day to day performance of each mail carrier.
- Consistently benchmark services to ensure the best mix of quality and cost for mail services.
- Act as the mail subject matter expert
- Manage all aspects of freight movement across the EU and ROW.
- Negotiate with service providers to gain the most competitive rates whilst adhering to specific service requirements of the customer's operation.
- Research alternative freight options and benchmark existing rates to ensuring best value
- Develop the carrier base, by selecting appropriate and compliant carriers, building long term partnership via effective carrier management.
- Demonstrable experience in a Carrier Management position, ideally responsible for a global spend more than £10m+ pa.
- Expertise in UK and EU carriage markets
- Excellent knowledge B2C postal and parcel operations
- Experienced in leading carrier tenders and of analysing and negotiating costs
- Demonstrable experience of managing carrier SLA’s / KPI’s and challenging carriers for under-performance.
- Demonstrable track record of problem solving and delivering efficiency gains.
- Used to dealing with external stakeholders and / or third party service and product providers.
- Moderate understanding of carrier’s technical architecture (i.e. can confidently talk to and explain how carriers tech stack is set up)
- Used to presenting mini business cases re cost / benefit.
- Sound understanding of B2C (Ex works) customs and duties (especially over international border lines)
