What Being a B Corp Really Means, Six Months On

In June 2025, we became a certified B Corp. This milestone didn’t signal a new direction, but it did give us the language and framework to articulate who we already were. Six months on, we are reflecting on what B Corp certification truly means for our team, our clients, and the South West economy we are proud to be part of.

Not a shift in strategy, but a spotlight on our values

There is a common belief that becoming a B Corp requires a complete transformation. For us, the journey was the opposite. The B Corp process helped shine a spotlight on the responsible business practices and ethical recruitment principles that already shaped our day to day work. It strengthened our ability to measure and evidence our positive impact.

People first is at the heart of responsible business

While the B Corp movement often highlights environmental sustainability, our biggest focus has always been people. As a recruitment business, our impact is inherently human. B Corp certification supported us in formalising the commitments we have always championed:

  • Building a people first culture for our team
  • Supporting clients and candidates with fairness, transparency and integrity
  • Prioritising long term relationships over short term gains
  • Strengthening ethical recruitment across the region

Proudly rooted in the South West economy

We are deeply connected to the South West business ecosystem. Every successful placement contributes to regional growth, job creation and resilience. B Corp gave us a framework to demonstrate the wider economic value of responsible recruitment and our ongoing commitment to supporting the South West economy.

Community impact is part of how we operate

For Cathedral Appointments, community is not a side project. It is part of our operating model. Becoming a B Corp encouraged us to deepen what we were already doing:

  • Supporting local initiatives and charities

  • Sharing knowledge and networks

  • Collaborating with purpose driven businesses

  • Playing an active role in the South West business community

A commitment to continuous improvement

Six months in, the biggest benefit of B Corp certification is the ongoing accountability. It encourages us to continually review how we support our team, how we create economic impact, and how we uphold responsible business standards in every decision.

For us, being a B Corp isn’t about a score. It is about being a purpose driven business that does the right thing as standard.

Looking ahead

We remain committed to strengthening the South West economy through ethical recruitment and responsible business practices. We didn’t become a B Corp to change who we are. We became a B Corp because it reflects who we have always been.
