Head of Finance Job Description
As a Head of Finance, your main responsibility will be to implement an effective financial strategy for the business. You will lead on the development of the budget, reviewing financial reports and ensuring compliance with financial regulators.
You will often have a team that reports into you, made up of Finance Managers, Tax Managers and Accountants and in some senior cases, you could report into the Board of Directors.

- Implementing effective financial controls, preparing statutory statements, managing audits and ensuring compliance with financial regulations
- Developing the annual budget, oversee financial planning and provide accurate financial forecasts and analyses
- Managing investment managers and executing internal audit programmes
- Review and interpreting financial reports, managing payroll and VAT returns and engage in contract management
- Guide the overall financial strategy and ensure finances are managed according to governing rules
- Must be a qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) with a professional finance or accounting qualification and at least 3 years experience in a senior position
- Strong financial management skills, including knowledge of SAGE line 50, SAGE payroll, accounting standards, VAT and investment management.
- Hold an analytical mindset and be capable of managing large datasets, with excellent computer skills and familiarity with IT accounting systems
- Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities to foster and maintain client relationships, with a proactive and organised approach to work
- Awareness of the legal and regulatory framework required for the position
